Conventional methods rely on indirect ice detection, for example through temperature sensors. With Coldsense ice sensors, for the first time it is possible to directly detect frost, mixed ice, and clear ice on the evaporator of a refrigeration system. We developed these sensors ourselves\u2014originally for safety-critical ice monitoring systems in aerospace. The measurement results are correspondingly precise.<\/p>\n
The ice sensors combine different measurement principles and generate a tightly confined electromagnetic field that changes as soon as even minimal ice forms on the sensor. This change is captured with high precision, allowing both the start and duration of each defrost cycle to be controlled with exact accuracy.<\/p>\n

Conventional methods rely on indirect ice detection, for example through temperature sensors. With Coldsense ice sensors, for the first time it is possible to directly detect frost, mixed ice, and clear ice on the evaporator of a refrigeration system. We developed these sensors ourselves\u2014originally for safety-critical ice monitoring systems in aerospace. The measurement results are correspondingly precise.<\/p>\n
The ice sensors combine different measurement principles and generate a tightly confined electromagnetic field that changes as soon as even minimal ice forms on the sensor.
